Lydia Jane’s Natural Birth Story: Part 1

Wow, it’s hard to believe that our precious little surprise is over 8 months old! I figured it was about time to write down her natural birth story. It definitely was one for the books because it was so different from my first 2 deliveries.  You can read about Aymen’s natural delivery here and Ada’s here.

Let me start by saying that getting pregnant again was NOT in our immediate plan. In fact, it wasn’t even in our 2 or 3 year plan. In our heads, we were taking a break from having kids so we could work on a few things. We wanted to build up our savings, remodel our house, and travel a little bit.

Well, we all know what happens when we start making our own plans and thinking we’ve got it all figured out….God has such a wonderful sense of humor, doesn’t he?? =)

Look at my babies….they had no hair!

I remember the day I found out I was pregnant. It was about 4:30 in the afternoon and I had received a message from a college girlfriend in a group text that was sort of cryptic and set everyone off with the “Are you trying to tell us something?!” texts. It hit me while reading those messages that I needed to go check and make sure that I didn’t need to tell everyone something.

Lee came home a few minutes later to me standing in the kitchen half laughing and half crying with Aymen and Ada running in and out of my legs. He said “What’s wrong? Are you okay?” and all I could do was turn and walk towards the bathroom. To which he replied, “Oh, are you pregnant again?”

It took us a few days but once it set in that another sweet little baby was on the way, we were pretty excited! I mean, it really wouldn’t have done us any good to be anything but excited because Bronson Baby #3 was coming, ready or not!

I immediately delved deep into prayer over my pregnancy, natural birth, and this precious new life that was growing. The most prominent theme in my praying was peace. I wanted God’s peace, the peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7), the peace that He promises to His people (Psalm 85:8) to surround us and completely settle us into what was coming.

Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Reader, let me tell you. God delivered. Pun totally intended. I can’t wait to share with you the exciting story of Lydia’s actual birth…
